Old guy , totally new to games - could use help feedback
Howdy to the community. If I just play with minimal setup and mostly defaults wiil it be worth playing and will I find anybody willing to play ? I don't know how to do all the setup changes in my system Mint 17 ; like adding mods, . I'd really like to learn how to play this game . Can anyone help. Shy Big Grin I've read a lot of the manual and right now I'm gonna just open the game and hope for the best. Be careful you don't trip over my body and shoot yourself.

Here's hoping ; thanks a lot

There are plenty of people willing to help you in this great community. Some of the info you will find on this forum, other just by playing alot.

I really hope you gonna have a great time here en you will have nothing but Fun Fun Fun.

Hey , thanks a lot you guys. I been off playing Perfect Golf from Perfect Parallel thru Steam - played all nite and day . Hope I'm allowed to say that about a website ; I haven't read all the forum rules yet. You play the whole game with your mouse. Well I'm gonna stumble around the arena while I can still see. Way tired. Thanks again for the welcome.

I've seen some posts at different places about A.A. not being able to install in L . Mint . They were older posts . do you know if that problem has been solved. ? I ve been looking and so far don't find a fix - for my Mint - Thanks

Your best choice is to install Alien Arena with svn. You will find all the info you need in the posts below

If you do not want to compile the game from source, use the PlayDeb packages:
http://www.playdeb.net/software/Alien%20Arena
Linux Mint 17 corresponds to Ubuntu 14.04, so you should install the very latest PlayDeb package (the one for 13.10.) It should still work.

However, in our SVN versions, we've made a great deal of progress since the 7.66 stable release, and so you may find it worthwhile to put in the extra effort to get our SVN version set up. But the stable release is a valid option as well.

Max,Max,MAX, ; You are killer man.
I put all this on the shelf temp. cause I'm not all that good at this kind of stuff. I did SVN but it needed x11 , I think it was and the instructions for getting x11 are bryond my knowledge base . I will check out Play Deb . thanks so much for replying Big Grin

Max . I downloaded AA from your Play Deb link. It installed and shows up in synaptic and software center as installed but it's not in my menu . Any ideas please about what happened ?

Uh , Max; I found it in my downloads folder. I mistakenly thought it would just be installed . I have no idea what to do with these files or how to install from here. Would you mind a little help to finish installing. thanks

There are instructions for installing software from the playdeb site here :http://www.playdeb.net/updates/Ubuntu/14.10#how_to_install. Maybe you just need to try step 4

hope this helps you out Logoibot, cheers
