Oh, didn't know it would stop being free :O
Will people need a steam account to play the game now?

Oh, sorry, just found the article on irritant's blog: https://irritant.wordpress.com/2017/07/1...our-niche/

So the steam version will have more stuff, but there will be a free one,I still wonder how this is going to work though...

Well people not using Steam won't have all of the skins, stats, leaderboards, awards, etc.  They also would have to download a few maps on occasion via udp.  Otherwise the games are fully compatible in every way.

RE: It's BETA time!
Today I'm working the new master server code, so bear with me.  There will be some hiccups and downtime today.

RE: It's BETA time!
I have the new master server mostly working.  It may get reset from time to time today as I finish things up.

One thing I noticed - the Big Bad Mog servers are not showing up.  Either they need to be restarted, or they are only pointing to master2.corservers.com.  Whoever is running them please make sure they point to both master.corservers.com and master2.corservers.com

Also, the DO servers are completely offline as well.

Ok, think I've got it figured out Smile

All of the servers are responding now, and soon the new master will be up and running as it should.

RE: It's BETA time!
Early next week, most likely, SVN will be updated to the new protocol, making it incompatible with the Beta.  This means if you update SVN, you'll not be able to connect to the Beta servers.

A week from this Wednesday, all servers will/should be updated the the latest revision of SVN, which will make them compatible with the release of the game on Steam, Friday November 3rd.  All links to the beta download will be removed, as will the beta installers.

Over the weekend there were about 150 new player names registered in the database, as well as quite a bit of players playing offline against bots.  We only announced the Beta on IndieDB, Reddit, and Twitter.  The goal was not to bring in a surge of players, but enough to get some more feedback and testing.  Some useful info came out of it, but overall the feedback has been rather minimal, which may mean well, nothing.  The servers and infrastructure seemed stable, and I am working on our Steam store/presence to be all it can be.

I want to thank everyone in the community who participated in testing, and providing input throughout the entire development process of this new game.  There is no way we could have done this without you, and believe me, it won't be forgotten.

RE: It's BETA time!
Very important message to all:

I updated SVN with the new protocol version for the release!

This means, do NOT update your servers just yet or the beta players will not be able to connect.  Also, if you're using SVN for your client, refrain from updating until the game is released on Friday.
