RE: Performance tweaks
Hey, everyone that has made driver adjustments, please post them in this thread along with your OS and the setting you needed to change. Some of these, perhaps all of them, we can override certain settings to avoid this kind of thing in the future.

RE: Performance tweaks
Due to poor desktop performance and watching videos, I had to enable Composition Pipeline from nvidia-settings.

X Server Display Configuration --> Advanced --> Force Composition Pipeline.

That setting caused choppy performance in AA Gen3 so I disable it when I play AA. Gen2 ran flawlessly no matter what the setting was.
I also have Sync to VBlank in OpenGL settings.

Save a tree or two. Use both sides of toilet paper.

This is a little concerning, because it doesn't make much sense.  Gen2 and Gen3 used the same engine, rendering pipline, tech, so that should not be the case.  There might be something of a coincidence here.

Can you try installing Gen2 and re-enabling that setting and confirming that Gen3 runs poorly again, but Gen2 works fine?

RE: Performance tweaks
I didn't see any difference in Gen2 no matter the setting. That is why I forgot about the setting in the first place.
But I will try. Revision 4989?

Yes, 4989 would be fine to try.

Thanks Smile

You are right. The effect is same... I don't know how I didn't notice it.
I guess I'm getting too old Smile

No, not really. Our renderer isn't really parallelizeable.

Just wondering about the following: is it also not possible to render things in parallel and then merge them? Or do other not graphics related stuff in parallel?

RE: Performance tweaks
I think I remember one of the devs said that when the game uses more than one core/thread, instead of improving performance, the cores/threads spend more time waiting for the other core/thread to finish it's job.
