RE: Gameplay Videos
How to record in Windows free and easy:
1) Record with Xfire(free program). You'll get a huge .avi file
2) In the Xfire directory you'll find Xfire Encoder to make it smaller (my advice: set the output file extension to .flv. The program will display an error message and later Youtube too, but your video will be very small with extra HD quality and it will play on Youtube)
3) Upload it to Youtube

RE: Gameplay Videos
Tutorial on using Xfire for Alien Arena

0) Rename alienarena.exe to crx.exe
1) Go Tools-Options
[Image: 12010199.png]
2) Games - Not Installed
[Image: 12010211.jpg]
3) Choose "Alien Arena" (not Alien Arena 2008 or Alien Arena 2009), then click Manual Detect. Xfire will look for "crx.exe" not "alienarena.exe" - so you need to rename "alienarena.exe" to "crx.exe" (step "0)")

4)Than this will show up:

5) Click "apply"
6) Xfire now recognizes AA. To set it up Xfire to your needs you can set the quality which it will record and the keys to start recording
"Full-Size" makes you a superb HD quality, while "half-size" means less quality. I use Full Size myself, since xfireencoder.exe will make the huge file small while the quality remains 1024p

7) Enjoy recording your videos. To make the huge video smaller you can use xfencoder.exe (located in your Xfire directory) to make it smaller.

RE: Gameplay Videos
Thanx Tricky...I am using SVN and for what ever reason it won't bring the crx.exe file up for me when I'm browsing for the folder..If I rename the file, all the green check-marks turn to red exclamations....I'll fiddle around some more and see if I can get it to work...I noticed U R using v7.60...I am using v7.65 if that means anything??

RE: Gameplay Videos
i havent used or tried xfire, but i would say the version doesnt matters. those green checkmarkers became red because it differs from the revision you updated to. not sure if this has any impact on svn itself (i'm svn noob tbh), but you could copy alienarena.exe into the same directory and rename the copy to crx.exe Wink that should works - its at least a try lol

RE: Gameplay Videos
Some more advice. I'm busy now since I will travel in 4am, so I hope I'll compile a campact Xfire guide when I get back from winter holidays in a week.

1) I forgot to mention that you need to tell Xfire where to put your videos in Tools-Options-Video. I like to put it on the Desktop, but they can be put in any directory. It is important since Xfire otherwise will put your files in a hidden directory (Programdata) and you cannot find them there that easily.

2) After you have recorded the video Xfire will offer that it would upload the video to your Youtube account. So far, it did not work for me, so do NOT choose that and click CANCEL
[Image: 12040066.jpg]
3) Find your video where you saved it. In my case I saved it to Desktop:

4) Now you can upload it to Youtube or make it smaller to upload it more fast.

PS.: I am in a hurry and having some computer problems, so I cannot show you right now how to make the video smaller. Earlier a program called Xfencoder.exe in Xfire directory could shrink the video, now it does not work for me. You can use any software to shrink the avi file though.
