Notice to Ingame IRC users
Originally posted by Joturkey:

OK I feel the time has come to address this, If a player uses the ingame IRC option, you ARE in the main chat channel for AlienArena,
since this option was implemented the "channel ops" have hadour hands full dealing with offensive ingame names, and language
dropping into the chat channel. On servers, only the server op can deal with offensive names or language, to talk exclusively ingame you must
press "T" then "Enter" to send ingame messages that will not show up in IRC. But be advised, anyone with offensive ingame names, talk, using the
ingame IRC option risks a kick, or ban from the IRC channel.
I'm not trying to be a hard case here, but our jobs as ops is to keep the IRC channel for Alienarena clean. Wink

RE: Notice to Ingame IRC users
Too bad the new players usually do not read this before playing. Could the game or some servers display some short message for a few seconds on joining. For e.g. "Have fun, talk nicely" or similar. I've seen that in a game already.

RE: Notice to Ingame IRC users
Kinda sad to say, but I guess, some people don't care about these kind of messages.

I wouldn't say 90+ people have read it. I tend to read every new post everyday, as I'm sure the other mods do.

I'm a newbie yet I care about the language. For example, one needn't drop the "F" bomb to express disgust. To express disgust in a manner that doesn't get you kicked or banned - SAY ANYTHING ELSE !!! Make up a word if you have to. No need to drop "F" bombs. That's just silly & lame

I plan on streaming my gameplay on Twitch TV as soon as I can (Hopefully with my webcam for cool PiP effects Wink ). Facial & body expressions do wonders & won't get you kicked or banned Smile

Cheers Smile

RE: Notice to Ingame IRC users
Some people have a history here because of bad language and offensive nicknames.
